60 Minutes has a Story Sunday January 1, 2006 (tomorrow night) at 7pm EST/6pm CST called THE NEW SPACE RACE. Here is their teaser:
The private sector’s race to space is being led by maverick aeronautical engineer Burt Rutan, who foresees thousands of people enjoying the view from space in the very near future. Ed Bradley reports. Harry Radliffe is the producer.
Not sure if it is anything new, or just a rehash of stuff. I will be watching it regardless. I will post comments here, if any of you have any thoughts on it, feel free to comment.

The 60 Minutes peace was mostly a re-hash, but I enjoyed it anyway.
And something occurred to me:
Many credit card agreements include life insurance coverage for deaths that occur during commercial travel (i.e., when an airplane crashes). Airplanes crash very rarely, so this coverage doesn't cost the credit cards much.
Has anyone in the credit card industry realized that their coverage will apply to space flights, too? That could be some serious liability.
I think Burt Rutan's flights will be safer than NASA's. But still...
I don't know if credit card insurance will cover space flights or not. Insurance is usually very specific about what it covers.
I don't know about you, but I couldn't put $200,000 on a credit card. At 9% interest, you would want to make more than the minimum payments, that is for sure :)
Right. :) Yeah, I'm waiting until the price of those space flights comes down a bit.
