- NASA has (officially) chosen the RS-68 engine for the HLV. Like everybody didn't already know that. Comm Space Watch has more.
- The risk of Asteroid Apohis smacking into the Earth in 2036 has decreased to 1 in 24,000. Still scares me a little.
- A team of astronomers has discovered a Jupiter sized planet, XO-1, using off the shelf equipment. Still costs $60,000 so it isn't off the shelf for me, of course. Here are more technical details of the new planet.
- Problems with the external tanks may cause delays in the STS-300 mission.
- ExoMars, a full scale model of a Mars rover is a hit at the ILA 2006 conference in Europe. The real thing is slated for a 2011 launch.

- Elon Musk, chairman of SpaceX, and Chris Farnetta, from Space Adventures, Ltd. spoke at the Future in Review conference to discuss their respective efforts to commercialize space.
- New Mexico's spaceport site will be visited by CBS news on Wednesday May 24.
- The AOPA is worried about new spaceports interfering with airplane traffic.
